Despite Castlevania: Symphony of the Night being one of my all-time favorite video games, I've never finished it after all these years. Mostly because I'm not very good at old-school platformers. (See also: Mega Man and Metroid.)

I think it's more that I like the idea of Castlevania in general. All the gothic vampire lore and whatnot. The original Castlevania for NES is another of my favorite video games, but I can't remember if I ever defeated even the first boss in it.

Part of my attachment to Symphony of the Night is that it was one of my very first games for the original PlayStation, so it carries lots of nostalgia for me. And of course, it has one of the greatest video game scores of all time, by Michiru Yamane. I may never finish the game, but I'll be listening to its music forever.

Obviously, the best way to take a #dive for your #Pixel_Dailies is to find the hilarious water traversal "relic" from #SymphonyOfTheNight (castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Ho).
To match the diving theme, I decided to share a one-piece swimsuit design for my #PixelArt #kisekae (in #Pico8 colors). When I laid out the image, I realized the snorkel would almost perfectly fit the doll, so I modified it a bit and added it to the outfit. I hope you enjoy this funny little #MastoArt post.

Oh hey, look, here's my interview/discussion with Pigsy! You know, the guy working on the Castlevania: Symphony of the Night demake for the Genesis / Mega Drive! Listen to us gab about semi-relevant things for about an hour and 45 minutes!

Full disclosure: I created several of the songs being used in the game.

Continued thread

Ahora entiendo la relevancia del Symphony of the Night

There's now a translation patch for the Sega Saturn version of Castlevania: Symphony of the Night that was Japan-only originally! Give it a shot!

It has lots of exclusive content and differences like extra added areas, a unique version of playable Maria that's like a fighting game character vs the PSP/PS4 Requiem version's Maria, and more!

More info's in the description of the video, and the video itself shows gameplay of the Saturn version.
