Oceans Craig<p>the weather meant I found some time to progress the <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/guitar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>guitar</span></a> project... side-bending is always a little stressful - but satisfying if nothing goes horribly wrong. <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/amateurluthier" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>amateurluthier</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/summerproject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>summerproject</span></a></p>

Oceans Craig<p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/AmateurLuthier" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurLuthier</span></a> Saturday... my <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/SummerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SummerProject</span></a> (steel string acoustic) progresses slowly. Doing the top bracing which has a lot of influence on the final sound of the guitar. But I'm not really 100% on exactly how. I suspect I know too much about frequency analysis and not enough about guitars as most explanations generate more questions in my mind.</p>
Oceans Craig<p>Last summer's <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/SummerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SummerProject</span></a> finished enough to play. Its a baritone so tuned down about 5 semitones. It is very difficult to resist the temptation to get stuck into Jesus and Mary Chain/Sunn O))) territory but it does sound very nice with a cleaner sound. I've not done a whammy bar before - that is also difficult to resist 😃 </p><p>Once I've played it in a bit I may post some sounds. 🎸 </p><p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/AmateurLuthier" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurLuthier</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/Guitar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Guitar</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/BaritoneGuitar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BaritoneGuitar</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a></p>

Oceans Craig<p>At this rate last summer's <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/SummerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SummerProject</span></a> will get to double as next summer's <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/SummerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SummerProject</span></a> - none of the bits n bobs are actually attached (including neck) - don't want to rush things... obviously 😃 It's a baritone riff on a Gretsch Astro-Jet and so the strange shaped upper bout and headstock are some of the more accurate aspects (the <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/Sputnik" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Sputnik</span></a> inlay is perhaps less true to the original). <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/AmateurLuthier" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurLuthier</span></a></p>

Oceans Craig<p>Sneaking in some time to catchup on <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/SummerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SummerProject</span></a> despite it being autumn (not that you’d know today with the actually glorious <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/WellyOnAGoodDay" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WellyOnAGoodDay</span></a> conditions). It’s the headstock for what will be a baritone electric… based on a goofy 50s design - Astro-Jet…</p>
Colin W<p>Instead of installing the window and door today, I’m altering the prefab frames by adding an additional 15 studs to bring up to code. All missed by the architect and kit set supplier for reasons…</p><p>Big painful job but the best time for rework is now! It’s no wonder building projects go off the rail in NZ if building product specifics are missed by the experts.</p><p>One upside is the roof means I don’t need to slather on sunscreen (hate the stuff)</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/SummerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SummerProject</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a></p>
Rivikah<p>We&#39;ve been rushing trying to get the rafters up before the rain. Today, we failed. These are only temporarily screwed in and they haven&#39;t been notched yet, but it&#39;s raining and we wanted to get the tarp up.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>diy</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/construction" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>construction</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/shed" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>shed</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/summerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>summerProject</span></a></p>

Andrew Hall 🇨🇦<p>Welcome to part 11 of the series on How to Fix a Hole in the Shed Floor. In this episode, we fix the hole in the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/shed" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>shed</span></a> floor by adding a chandelier!</p><p>Added a plywood panel to hold the switch and things that need to be hung. Then I wired up the led lights so I can see on those dark winter nights. Ran the snow blower up and down the ramp a few times too. I plan to store as much as I can on dollies so I can move things easily around f I need to. </p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>diy</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/SummerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SummerProject</span></a></p>
Rivikah<p>Oh I forgot to show a non-tarped picture of the floor. </p><p>We&#39;re rapidly running out of summer for this project. I guess we&#39;re going to get our money&#39;s worth out of that tarp.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DIY</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/shed" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>shed</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/summerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>summerProject</span></a></p>
Andrew Hall 🇨🇦<p>Welcome to part 10 of the series on How to Fix a Hole in the Shed Floor. In this episode, we fix the hole in the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/shed" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>shed</span></a> floor by adding doors to the new shed!</p><p>Next, I built up the doors, doors seem to take just as long as the shed to put together. It was the same way with the greenhouse. Day for the building, a day for the doors.</p><p>I did manage to lock myself out of the shed and figure out how to break into it so <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/AchievementUnlocked" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>AchievementUnlocked</span></a>. </p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>diy</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/SummerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SummerProject</span></a></p>
Rivikah<p>We have a floor! Insulated and rodent-proofed! Interrupted by yesterday&#39;s rain. <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>DIY</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/shed" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>shed</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/summerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>summerProject</span></a></p>
Andrew Hall 🇨🇦<p>Welcome to part 9 of the series on How to Fix a Hole in the Shed Floor. In this episode, we fix the hole in the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/shed" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>shed</span></a> floor with a new shed! Duh! Duh! Duuuuh!</p><p>After the floor had dried, we set out to put the shed together. The kt went together pretty easily but got to the point where the walls and roof were done before we had to call it a day.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>diy</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/SummerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SummerProject</span></a></p>
Andrew Hall 🇨🇦<p>Welcome to part 8 of the series on How to Fix a Hole in the Shed Floor. In this episode, we fix the hole in the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/shed" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>shed</span></a> floor with some paint!</p><p>After the rain, I set about painting the floor of the shed. After a coat of paint, I wasn’t happy with the cracks in the plywood, so I ended up filling them with some filler and sanding the floor. I then put on a second coat of paint. It now looks better to me.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>diy</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/SummerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SummerProject</span></a></p>
Andrew Hall 🇨🇦<p>Welcome to part 7 of the series on How to Fix a Hole in the Shed Floor. In this episode, we fix the hole in the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/shed" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>shed</span></a> floor with a golden screw -- ok it was a brown deck screw, but you get the idea!</p><p>In between the heat and rain this week I managed to get the deck and ramp framed, taped, and covered with the decking. Soon it will be time for the shed, but that should not take long at all as it’s a metal one, but for now, I think I am done with the woodwork. </p><p><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/diy" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>diy</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/SummerProject" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>SummerProject</span></a></p>
