It will HURT. It will hurt so much that if the person you applied it to is still conscious, they will be begging you to take the tourniquet off. Don't take it off. Another thing I learned in the class is that it's ok to leave the tourniquet on for hours. It's fine. Scissors Cut Paper...<p>Tonight, a handful of folks, including me, took the <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/StopTheBleed" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>StopTheBleed</span></a> training. </p><p>They have a website at <a href="https://www.stopthebleed.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">stopthebleed.org/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>They recommend offering the training for free, though my instructor said they accept donations. </p><p>When I looked for training near me, some folks were charging. </p><p>Up $50 (US).</p><p>I also learned that <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/TX" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TX</span></a> law requires bleed boxen in all <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/schools" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>schools</span></a>. The boxen are required to have specific items, including hemostic dressings and tourniquets. </p><p>TIL that not every tourniquet results in an amputation, so don't be afraid to use one. Also, modern medical tourniquets are better than making do, so have them in your kit.</p>
