North Sea collision: What tech was onboard the two ships and why didn't it prevent a crash?

As expected, the captain of the containership Solong has been arrested. The Solong crashed into the Stena Immaculate in the North Sea off the coast of Northern England yesterday.

A Solong crew member is missing and presumed dead. All other crew members of both vessels are accounted for.

The Solong is still on fire, but is expected to stay afloat. As is the Stena Immaculate.

The #JetFuel was owned by the #US govt. That’s consistent w/the vessel being part of a US govt program designed to supply the armed forces w/fuel during times of armed conflict or national emergency.
