Ask as many questions as possible - there are no stupid questions.
Even very senior developers get things wrong, quite often!

As it was new, I set myself an exploratory task of being able to make a particular call using Postman…
I gave myself a comfortable 2 hours to get it done...
For several reasons, I found myself 90 mins in, having made what felt like zero progress...

Functional black box tests like #Cucumber BDD Tests should not access internals of the app like the database. If the black box has no external API expose the results, why is it worth checking the result in the first place?
Use APIs to create the initial state, use APIs to conduct the test, use APIs to verify the result.
