We’re excited to announce that, from Monday, we’re going to be the new admins of IndieWeb.social!

We’ve always loved how @tchambers has run IndieWeb.social. His direction has made it one of the best instances on the Fediverse!

Thanks to Tim for his trust in us to provide a safe and secure home for the server into the future.

@evan

we should be able to talk about anything mostly without getting blocked unless you tag people with stuff they probably don't want to see or clearly don't want to interact with you anymore. the emotional stuff is usually what we most need to discuss and share content with alternative views/info. #SocialWeb

these are sadly not the norms of the fedi today.

@marci

we're the only option for journalists to run their own social media server and never have anyone between them and the public. the people fully in control of deciding if their work should go viral. (bluesky will always have relays etc)

our only weakness is the lack of audience, but they could instantly change that if they embraced us in a collective public action. I see it as inevitable but I can't keep waiting... #SocialWeb

🌩️ Social media is more turbulent than ever, reflecting society.

Now is our chance to help people move to democratic, open, social technology like the open social web.

We know that open social alternatives give control back to the user, now it is our job to bring more users to this social space.

If you want to help, share word of the open social web with the people around you.

⚠️ Video: flash warning.

Spring has reached the open social web 🌸 🐑

With a wave of momentum and publicity hitting the open social web, now is the time for us to really put our eggs in one basket (pun intended) and get serious about working together to grow better social media.

Thanks to the brains at Ghost, you can now follow my blog directly from the Fediverse 👉 @index

I bridged my Bluesky account over to here - thanks (#BridgyFed).

@haubl.es

I don't really post much over there except work things and boosting/engaging with political stuff (since I'm on @fosstodon here and political content is not permitted).

If you have accounts on both, have you stopped posting on one protocol? Or do you go to different platforms for different types of content/ conversation?

While reading the social web documentation of @index (glad to see the progress of the Ghost integration with the Fediverse! [1]), I discovered that Tumblr is on their way to integrate with the social web after migrating their backend to WordPress.

Does anyone know of any good quality blogs from Tumblr? Just wondering if it will be a win for the Fediverse, or if the vast majority of those millions of blogs are just low to average content.
