Additions and changes this release include a pretty big project of enlarging City of Seattle's street name labels, which were too damn small.

RELEASE: Greater Northshore and MEGAMAP Bike Maps version 1.8 - 8 June 2025

Additions and changes this release:

* LOTS. Too many to list here. Mostly Seattle, but not only Seattle, as they've dropped the 2025-26 bike map, with which we have issues.

oh yeah the other thing I did as part of today's Tesla Takedown protest

I finally took along the HT - handheld shortwave transmitter - using the parts I made to hook it to my bike:

thingiverse.com/thing:7027125

kinda scary at first because of hard bumps making me worried about jarring the radio badly, then I remembered "oh right I can engage the fork suspension" and after that everything was pretty great! Being on the handlebars, the radio and holder get the full benefit of the suspension so it gets a super smooth ride.

I didn't really try to use the radio, tho', being busy with the protest. I did some scanning but didn't really pick up much. maybe next time?

ThingiverseBike handlebar mount for Midland T10 FRS radios and better-fit belt clip for Baofeng radios by solarbirdThis mount provides a side-oriented mount for devices equipped with a belt clip at least as large as that of a Midland T10 FRS radio. It also requires some sort of strap; I use velcro.Lift the velcro on the right side, slide the radio on, put the velcro back, the radio is held in by the clip and also by the velcro.I have also uploaded a belt clip replacement for the Baofeng BF-F8HP Pro handheld and probably most of their other handhelds as well. This provides a more secure attachment to the bike clip.I may upload more clip versions for other bike handlebar types and/or mounting points.

Today's Lynnwood #TeslaTakedown was around 80 people; we need new people to start showing up. But the energy was good and the drive-by response was, again, overwhelmingly positive.

I like positioning myself just north of the turnaround where they take people out for test drives so I can have the "DON'T BUY CARS FROM NAZI ASSHOLES" sign aimed right at them as they go by, still slow after the turn. I game-show point it out to them as they pass.

I imagine the Tesla employees are less than fond of that. I doubt it changes many kinds because, well, they're at the Tesla dealership despite the protest. But one never knows.

Next is Tuesday 4pm.
