Recently finished reading a biography on Evelyn Brent.
Her career was a roller coaster, and her life a bit of the same, but reading about her attitude even in the worst moments of her life solidified my appreciation of her.
She is definitely worth the admiration that we have for her on the Orphaned Entertainment podcast.

I've long generally preferred my silent films silent - sound off.
I know they were originally usually shown in theaters with musical accompaniment - the studios usually sent sheet music/scores to go with the films. The films have rhythms and moods. If there's music, it should sync with that, not conflict or distract. I encountered too many dubbed soundtracks that do the latter.

I've just edited together another soundtrack from modern creative commons tracks for an old silent film, this time for a cult surreal short. You can watch it on PeerTube at:

🍿 The Fall of the House of Usher (1928)

You can also check out my previous modern soundtrack edits for silent films:

🍿 Wings (1927)

🍿 The Phantom of the Opera (1925)

My personal favourite of these is "Wings", especially once you get to the main part of the story.
