There is a toad on my shelf. A fugurine, not alive one. She was a precious gift. She is constantly judging me and I've placed her there to see her in profile whenever we meet. She comes on strong, and I've been a bit afraid of her. I've finally dared to turn her so we can stare right at each other. It changes the conversation.
