@tompearce49 Definitely an interesting exploration of such things. First sentence: "The moon blew up without warning and for no apparent reason." Talk about a story hook!

"Asteroid könnte 2032 statt der Erde auch den Mond treffen"
Für Menschen die #SevenEves (Neal Stephenson) gelesen haben ist das jetzt nicht die größte Beruhigung.

@urlyman I read this line: "The effects of climate change are threatening our efforts to *deal* with climate change.” and it got me a bit worried. I am thinking of a point in #SevenEves where someone did some math and understood a serious problem:

@GhostOnTheHalfShell That was the ending of #NealStephenson's less successful #Seveneves follow up, ThreeElons.
@lydiaschoch I’m re-reading #seveneves. It’s very good, just like before. I’ve wanted a sequel ever since it came out. But in my second read through, I’m seeing hints throughout the whole book that sort of answer the questions that I was hoping to be answered in a sequel. It’s nice now to think of it as complete on its own.
Ooh - looks like #NealStephenson’s #Seveneves is heading for the small screen!

Neal Stephenson's Award-Winning Sci-Fi Novel Gets TV Adaptation at Legendary

I enjoyed this book. While I did rant a couple of hours ago about lack of creativity on new TV/movies, I do enjoy when they adapt a book to TV series and movie done well. This one had a whole lot of technical detail in it, so it will be interesting to see how much that is included or glossed over.
“Seveneves” – Legendary Television to Adapt Neal Stephenson’s Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Novel https://bloody-disgusting.com/tv/3823470/seveneves-legendary-television-to-adapt-neal-stephensons-apocalyptic-sci-fi-novel/
I am re-reading #seveneves by #NealStephenson . First time trough was audiobook and I stopped in the middle for about 2 years. (Spoiler alert) I thought of Julia as the baddie. I'm older now, and reading from a book. I'm consciously trying to read it with Julia not as the baddie. Books like this, that have multiple perspectives, are awesome! #booktodon
I’ve read this book before, so it’s not a surprise… but I’m still amused to see the words “Five Thousand Years Later”.

@mastodonmigration wait, "kessler syndrome cascade", hang on, you mean there's a name for the #seveneves thing?!
There is also submarines and spaceships.

Esta noticia es incómodamente muy cercana a la trama de #SeveNeveS

I loved #Seveneves and #Reamde. I enjoyed but was less excited by #Cryptonomicon.
Can anyone recommend another #NealStephenson book for me to read?
@ct_bergstrom Is this a guy that read #Seveneves and actually enjoyed the feverdream final third?
@APoD I'm so glad that it's been long enough since reading SeveNeveS that I can enjoy this beautiful photo.
@schizanon I very much enjoyed #SevenEves
Trying, but failing, to knock myself out by reading Neal Stephenson's #Anathem
While it's got some good ideas (Time Monks! Meme Hygiene!), it's awfully kludgy and slow. Especially compared to #SnowCrash or #Seveneves which are both dense, but move along at pace.
@ReadThinkBeGood absolutely, very big ideas! #SevenEves was amazing, big ideas, but also a very gripping story. Similarly the World of Warcraft one (I forget the title), which was a real thriller.
This one just felt a little overdone in terms of tangential details. Definitely worth a read though. Let me know what you think!
Having a tough #fibromyalgia flare-up this afternoon, so just doing some random knitting and listening to #Seveneves by #NealStephenson on audio.
