I miss AltaVista and HotBot , the search engines from the late 90's. Is it still possible to search the internet without triggering some AI that pushes its generated answer above all other results?

oh that's crazy... DuckDuckGo is down.

The funny part is all the down tecting websites say it's up but they're just pinging and getting error pages but since they're getting a page they report it's fine.

The plot thickens: remember when the EU slapped the hand of Google that they should let you use whatever #searchengine you want?

The #eOS launcher defaults to #Qwant and there is no option to change it. You can add your browser's widget to the widget page, but the universal search stays with the hard-coded default. Which sucks, because Qwant from 3 searches at least once is down.

And even if it's not, most likely you would get either irrelevant or French results. Good luck dealing with that if you don't known the language, which I don't!

At least #Startpage and #Ecosia should be options that we could choose from.

I recently began using #Ecosia as my #searchengine . Ecosia claims to be helping the #environment through a variety of ways when users use their service to search. Easy enough for an end user, I just hope it’s all real. Anyone know anything about them? Regardless, figured I’d share.
