#SilentSunday Scarborough promenade at night. A row of brightly painted beach huts with pointed roofs lines the right-hand side, illuminated by overhead string lights. The lights cast dramatic starburst flares, leading the eye down the seafront path. Across the bay in the background, a town’s streetlights shimmer in a long arc, reflecting in the water.

The TTC's express bus service at Kennedy Station to Scarborough Town Centre is the jankiest way to do #BRT I've ever seen.

(For outsider context, an aging rapid transit line closed a couple years back, and a real replacement won't be ready for a while)

Go to Platform B, guess whichever of the 8 lines doing the express route will leave first and board that. When a bus stops kneeling, people dash over. Only in #Scarborough.

#York and North #Yorkshire Combined Authority (YNYCA) has joined the #Urban #Transport Group (UTG), expanding the network to 15 transport authorities. Established in February 2024, YNYCA covers #York, #Harrogate, #Selby, #Scarborough, and rural North Yorkshire, led by Mayor David Skaith.

Mayor Skaith aims to create an integrated transport network prioritising healthier #travel, accessibility, safety, environmental protection, and economic growth. In March, he signed the White Rose Agreement with other Yorkshire mayors to improve rail and bus services, leading to Yorkshire’s Plan for Rail in May 2025. YNYCA is pioneering rural bus franchising, addressing challenges of rural and coastal transport.

Joining UTG gives YNYCA access to expertise to improve public transport’s affordability, reliability, and accessibility, connecting communities and reducing environmental impact. UTG welcomes YNYCA’s ambitions to enhance transport in this vital region.
