This is how #waterwars start. It's going to be really bad.

For anyone who doesn't know, the #Gunnison, #SanMiguel, #SanJuan, #Yampa, and #White #rivers are all tributaries of the #Colorado. So the entire #Southwest is in *deep* trouble. The #RioGrande and #Arkansas are equally important: much of #NewMexico and southern #Texas depend on the former; and #Kansas, #Oklahoma, and of course Arkansas itself on the latter.

As rough as it will be in Colorado, downstream it will be worse. We have the #headwaters for all the major rivers across about a quarter of the country ... and our water-sharing agreements were written during an unusually wet period. The fighting will begin in the courts, but I'm not at all sure it will stay there.

I'm running in San Juan this week! Well, I'm back in the frozen north now, but I was two weeks ago, anyway.

Puerto Rico is such an fantastic blend of cultures and a lovely place to visit. Just a reminder that they still don't get to vote in presidential elections.

One more Puerto Rico photo dump - around San Juan and Guayama mostly! Such a fun and colorful place to be. And as a solo female traveler I felt safe and welcome the entire time.

The locals were so friendly and put up with my SoCal surfer Spanish, and even in the rural spots were extremely accommodating to my being vegan (one hole in the wall was perplexed, but made me a mofongo without meat, loaded it with fresh veggies and red sauce, and hooked me up with a ton of sides!).

Had a great time wandering around, eating my body weight in tostones, swimming in the sea and pools, seeing wild iguanas, horses, turtles and so on…

And the best part? This specific trip was for work so the whole thing is expensed 😂 And I’ll be back at end of April!! #humblebrag
