Ulla Rajala<p>Maison-Carrée, Roman temple in Nîmes, France, was dedicated to Lucius and Gaius Caesar, adopted sons of Augustus. It was probably built before the death of Marcus Agrippa, the boys’ father, about 12 BC. Megalithic Portal (Andy B)<p>Fordcroft Romano-British Bathhouse: On Sunday 20th July I visited the open day of the Romano-British Bathhouse near Orpington. <a href="https://archaeo.social/tags/RomanSiteSaturday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RomanSiteSaturday</span></a> There was an interesting little tour and also an exhibition in the nearby Coronation hall with many Roman and other artefacts. This site is only open a couple of times a year including for the Festival of British Archaeology so I was pleased to chat with the volunteers. It's in St Mary Cray, SE London.</p>

It was built in the early 2nd century, when the Roman city of Corinium had a population of over 10,000 and was only second to London in size. Ulla Rajala<p>Horace's villa lie near Licenza Italy. Horace described the place in his poems and the villa has been attributed on the basis of the descriptions and the decorations of the villa. The villa lies near the shrine of the Sabine goddess Vecuna. It was excavated originally by the archaeologist Pasqui in 1911-14.
