Aaro Koskinen<p>"You? Me? Us?" by <a href="https://bitwoods.duckdns.org/tags/RichardThompson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RichardThompson</span></a> from 1996.</p><p>This has two CDs to emphasize electric/acoustic split (at 74 mins all 19 songs would have still fitted on a single disc). Two songs get both electric/acoustic treatment.</p><p>Overall a pretty average RT album, but superb moments here and there, like "Put It There Pal" where he gets into that great 70s folk-rock soloing. The acoustic side also has its moments w/some creepy lyrics.</p><p>Good.</p><p><a href="https://bitwoods.duckdns.org/tags/FolkRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FolkRock</span></a> <a href="https://bitwoods.duckdns.org/tags/CD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CD</span></a> <a href="https://bitwoods.duckdns.org/tags/Music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Music</span></a> <a href="https://bitwoods.duckdns.org/tags/RecordCollecting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RecordCollecting</span></a></p>

John Eckman<p><strong>Maria McKee, Maria McKee, 1989 on Geffen</strong></p><p>This was the debut solo album from the lead singer of Lone Justice. She’s joined here by Richard Thompson and Marc Ribot on guitar and Steve Wickham on fiddle. </p><p>She’d go on to record six more solo records and some live recordings – but I don’t think any of them did very well in the US – she had more success in Europe. </p><p>My copy—via Electric Fetus in Minneapolis MN—is a 1989 Specialty Records pressing, with original inner liner. </p><p><a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/1980s" target="_blank">#1980s</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/1989" target="_blank">#1989</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/country" target="_blank">#Country</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/electric-fetus" target="_blank">#ElectricFetus</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/geffen" target="_blank">#geffen</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/lone-justice" target="_blank">#LoneJustice</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/marc-ribot" target="_blank">#MarcRibot</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/maria-mckee" target="_blank">#MariaMcKee</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/minneapolis-mn" target="_blank">#MinneapolisMN</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/richard-thompson" target="_blank">#RichardThompson</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/steve-wickham" target="_blank">#SteveWickham</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/vinyl" target="_blank">#vinyl</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/vinylcollection" target="_blank">#vinylcollection</a> <a rel="nofollow noopener" class="hashtag u-tag u-category" href="https://goatless.org/tag/vinylfinds" target="_blank">#vinylfinds</a></p>
Hotspur🏳️‍🌈🇺🇦<p>Musical Interlude: Richard Thompson's album "you? me? us?" was an interesting experiment; two discs, one fully electric, one stripped-down acoustic, featuring some of the same songs. I would have preferred the exact same playlist, electric and acoustic, to compare and contrast, but one can't have everything. This track from the Electric disc, of a man confronting his sweetie's mixed signals, is a bit of fun.</p><p>"Am I Wasting My Love on You?" performed by Richard Thompson.</p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ew6J8aVvS08" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">youtube.com/watch?v=Ew6J8aVvS08</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/MusicalInterlude" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MusicalInterlude</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/RichardThompson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RichardThompson</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/YouMeUs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>YouMeUs</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Rock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rock</span></a></p>

No female singer in the band anymore, and boys are maybe having a bit too much good of a time as some vocals remind of random lads singing in a pub.</p><p>There's some slower serious focused stuff still, like "Sloth". You can hear <a href="https://bitwoods.duckdns.org/tags/RichardThompson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RichardThompson</span></a> is still in the band. Hotspur🏳️‍🌈🇺🇦<p>Musical Interlude: I love Richard Thompson, and some of his best work is when he's singing of heartbreak and love gone wrong. The music is so good.</p><p>Regarding the awesome guitar work, I remember reading him stating in some interview "the guitar is there just to accompany song/vocal" (not an exact quote, but something along that line). A superb album. Also some great 80s reverb sounds, drums and guitar here. </p><p>Some of the song titles are uncomfortably relevant today, e.g. "Jerusalem on the Jukebox" and "Yankee, Go Home".</p><p>The album sleeve art is pretty awkward, typical for a RT album.</p><p>But in summary a great record.</p><p><a href="https://bitwoods.duckdns.org/tags/Music" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Music</span></a> <a href="https://bitwoods.duckdns.org/tags/Vinyl" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Vinyl</span></a> <a href="https://bitwoods.duckdns.org/tags/FolkRock" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FolkRock</span></a> <a href="https://bitwoods.duckdns.org/tags/RecordCollecting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RecordCollecting</span></a></p>

Can hear 70s US country rock vibes mixed in! Read some reviews that criticized this but personally I like the sound.
