Reykjanes in den Westfjorden ist ein kleiner, abgelegener Ort auf einer Halbinsel, der vor allem durch das geothermisch beheizte Schwimmbad Reykjaneslaug bekannt ist. Direkt am Strand treten heiße Quellen zutage und lassen das Wasser sichtbar blubbern. Außerdem gibt es hier eine kleine Salzfabrik, in der Meersalz aus mineralreichem, geothermisch erwärmtem Meerwasser gewonnen wird.

Wahnsinn. Bis vor ca. 2 Stunden bebte es noch regelmäßig östlich von Vogar, am nördlichen Ende des gestern geschlagenen magmatischen Ganges. Und an der Halbinselsüdspitze wohl doch die ganze Nacht hindurch und auch weiterhin, inzwischen noch etwas weiter draußen bei Eldey, was eine kleine, nur von Vögeln bewohnte Insel vor der Küste ist. Schade, dass die Cam am Reykjanestá-Leuchtturm seit einigen Tagen nur Wischiwaschi liefert.

Ach so, es gab auch noch ein Schwarmbeben an der Südwestspitze von #Reykjanes vor der Küste. Etwas weiter draußen als da, wo es vor ein paar Tagen schon mal einen Schwarm gab. Der scheint aber schon wieder (fast) vorbei zu sein. Es ist eh ein anderes Spaltensystem und dürfte mit den Ereignissen bei #Sundhunkur höchstens indirekt zusammenhängen.

Interessant aber, wieviel Gewalt da überall freigesetzt wird, eigentlich wackelt es auf der und um die gesamte Insel.

mmmm... depuis hier après-midi, la terre tremble en #Islande ; c'est encore le long de la faille du #Reykjanes... mais pas dans la lignée des éruptions précédentes.

Pour l'instant, les spécialistes l'excluent, mais s'il y avait une éruption sous-marine, ce serait... intéressant.
