This is all in the name of getting our kitchen finished before we go on vacation in just over a week and I want to take this moment to publicly announce that I feel a way (dread) about the fact that we’ve decided to do the tiling of our own backsplash on a wall that contains:

- two separate outlets of different sizes
- multiple corners

Send thoughts, prayers, or your favorite recipe for an unapologetically stiff drink.

Demolished the rest of the toilet cubicle, to get to the wall and window behind.

For some reason it was insulated with rockwool. Which had a nice stash of eaten kernels inside it.

The toilet was still functional, alas, I seem to have nudged it a little too much and the reservoir started leaking, so now that's taken to pieces, cleaned up and descaling over night. Had a lot of scale sludge in it. What fun. Did I mention I love plumbing?

Not sure why there is another door nailed to the logs behind, hope it's not hiding any nasty surprises. Will have to carefully peel that off, but not today.

Made a replacement toilet paper stand from attic scraps as there is now no wall 😆

If I can brag about something stupid for just a second, I feel like I really nailed the knockdown texture matching on this little wall stub I added to balance a closet for a room remodel.

In prior drywall patching endeavors, I've not been able to get the exact right combination of joint compound consistency, air pressure, dry time before knockdown, and feathering, and the difference in island sizes was noticeable if you knew where to look.
