The hype I am seeing for "refurbished" or "renewed" hard drives for NAS usage seems like false economy to me. These drives need to be a heaps cheaper than they are to be the bargain that youtubers and tech blogs are saying they are. Some of these drives have in excess of 10,000 power on hours. It's been spinning for over a year and you're paying 80% of the original price?!

I may need a new phone as this Amazon refurbished pixel 6 connects to cell towers for a while when we switch phone services then it displays this even though the sim cards work in other phones after a bit when the sim cards detect they are in another phone

Yes, older PC were severely hit by HW issue mitigations, but they are not exactly slow: e.g., 6th gen still has enough power for common tasks like web, movies, office or even lightweight games. Much of the HW is dying, but there are lots of such PCs on #refurb market in mint condition and super-affordable. This makes computing less accessible for low-income folks who are not tech savvy to do brave stuff like install #Linux
looks like i am sold on a seagate 12tb for like 80 bucks - cmr, speed about 250mb/s - will get some of those every month if i have good luck two in raid0 will work well with bonded 2.5gbe and then have dual nas to prevent data loss - 4 would make a really nice sftp - 40tb is a lot of data - i can remember when a 40gb drive was 'big' - things have changed #refurb gear
in a couple years we will see tons of old team green gpu on the used mkt - smb mkt could be boosted from this since the gpu in use today have 40-80gb nvram - with 3 gpu you could run v large models and also add more if you need to scale #refurb inference
