#Duolingo is good for "jumpstarting" my brain so I can speak Norwegian. I'm finding it's hard to switch gears to Norsk, because I hear English all the time. So Duolingo gets me to move to second gear. Norwegian ks the only language I know and I'm getting better at it. Regardless of what #redneck xenophobic Americans (like my mother) being bilingual means I have 5.5 million new friends! And so far all my new friends have been so supportive. Tomorrow is Constitution Day!!

I told someone I was rewriting a story with a redneck POV, and they thought I was denigrating a certain class of people. Hell no. I grew up a redneck kid in a family of hunters, fishers, foresters, soldiers, and coal miners. I grew up on the land and often off the grid. I lived in the bush, in trailer parks, and in campgrounds with no fixed address. I grew up using axes, wielding pitchforks, and milking goats. It's part of my heritage. I may be citified, but I'm not casting shade on rural folks. #redneck
