Raglan Niall :lk: :tinoflag:<p>Yes! There is water flowing 🙂 <br><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/RainWaterCollection" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RainWaterCollection</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/RainHarvesting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RainHarvesting</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/Plumbing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Plumbing</span></a></p>
FreddyB Aviation Photography<p>SO one of my many fall projects was to add to our existing rain catchment system. The existing setup had a capacity of nearly 1000 gallons. I procured 4 275 gallon IBC that will double my existing capacity. The IBC's were food grade and were about $160 each delivered. Way more economical than commercially available rain barrels. They are a bit ugly but will serve my garden well. I will use a transfer pump to move the water from the system near the house to these in the garden. My existing system can fill up with one big storm so the extra capacity will be awesome <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/rain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rain</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/rainbarrels" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rainbarrels</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/garden" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>garden</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/sustainable" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>sustainable</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/gardening" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gardening</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/rainharvesting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rainharvesting</span></a></p>

Bongolian<p>Nick Aspinwall: Millions lack access to running <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/water" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>water</span></a>. Is the solution hiding in plain sight?</p><p>"[Brad] Lancaster, who said rain fulfills nearly all the water needs in his Tucson home, said the same can be true for the city: If collected, he said, the 11 inches of average annual rainfall in Tucson could supply all of its municipal water needs. Richard Ireland<p>Another 20mm of rain this morning. Now more than 100mm over the previous November record for Sussex. I’ve moved another 150 litres into an old water butt but thanks only reduced our <a href="https://c.im/tags/Rainharvesting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rainharvesting</span></a> tank by 6%. I have moved 1050 litres now. I gave a couple more water butts left but then that is it. Another band of heavy showers due this evening and a band of persistent rain tomorrow. <a href="https://c.im/tags/ClimateEmergency" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClimateEmergency</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/GlobalWarming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>GlobalWarming</span></a>.</p>
Richard Ireland<p>Two dry days has only freed up 450 litres in the <a href="https://c.im/tags/Rainharvesting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rainharvesting</span></a> tank. Rain or showers forecast for the next 15 days. Running out of old water butts to fill up with the overflow. <a href="https://c.im/tags/ClimateEmergency" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClimateEmergency</span></a> <br>(p.s. I looks like the trolls &amp; bots are on here now, misspelling hashtags to reduce impact as they do on the birdsite).</p>
Richard Ireland<p>Not even a third of the way through November &amp; my weather station has recorded over 200mm <a href="https://c.im/tags/rain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rain</span></a> this month. The record for Sussex was November 2009 at 221.2mm. <br>The <a href="https://c.im/tags/Rainharvesting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rainharvesting</span></a> tank is full, the pond is full, the overflow bog garden is full, all the old water butts I’ve dragged from the bottom of the garden are full. The rest will now have to run down into the valley below. <br>There is a brief interlude between heavy showers but I am sure the record will be broken soon.</p>
Richard Ireland<p>I guess I won’t get very good odds on November ‘22 being the wettest clever month in Sussex?<br>I think 2009 currently holds the record at 221.2mm; the <a href="https://c.im/tags/rain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>rain</span></a> gauge on my weather station has already recorded 171.5mm. Nigel, our <a href="https://c.im/tags/Rainharvesting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Rainharvesting</span></a> tank holds 3000 litres; he fills from empty with 30mm of rain. That’s a lot of toilet flushes! (I presume mastodon won’t let me upload photos because of server capacity at the moment?)</p>
