I made a futile numbers station that is visible only in our street. It uses a very large, very bright 7-segment display with an Arduino tacked on the back to do the TRNG* thing.

This video was taken from the street in the dark.

*: well, using the Entropy library, at any rate. None of that sampling a floating input nonsense.

I never thought about the fact that random number generators in games might feel unfair to players. You might not roll that 10% chance in 20 tries while another player hits it twice in a row. So there are algorithms to make "10% chance" feel more like "about once every 10 rolls".

A slide showing how using the golden ratio low discrepancy sequence as a random number generator when giving players treasure in a video game, gives a histogram of treasure nearly matching the histogram described by the actual probabilities. With white noise, the actual histogram of treasure dropped is very different from the probabilities.
