The people I feel most bad for right now are Queer/Trans Jews in the US who are under threat by a government that wants to destroy them, and a community of similar people who freely express how much they hate the "greedy baby-killing merchants" in various spaces.

If you're a Jew, please make room for these people who need your love and support more than ever.

If you're Queer, cut the antisemitic shit out. If a Jew tells you you're being antisemitic, then stop doing it. Don't argue, don't justify. Stop, listen, and reflect.

The #GOP and #farright use LIES to set voters against #POCs, #LGBTQIAplus , and Democrat politicians.

#Racism #sexism #queerphobia #politicalopponents #LAWildfires

Now, will this teach the Democratic Party to STOP being so obsessed with being chummy with the GOP and their GOP donors? NO!!! The Democratic Party ...learns...NOTHING!

After seeing how #FediAntisemitism can be useful as a tag (not getting into the issue of false positives on it), I'd like to see something like that for other #Moderation issues we see on the #Fediverse.

I propose we start using the tags #FediRacism, #FediQueerphobia, #FediTransphobia, and #FediAbleism when posting about examples of those things.

This will have three major uses...

1) Serve as a more specific warning to instances that are actively trying to protect themselves against those things. (eg, Black or Queer instances that need to spot #Racism and #Queerphobia fast to protect their users from #Harassment)

2) Give us a more direct way to track these issues on the network at large, and thus collect data on them.

3) Provide a more granular tagging for #FediBlock and #InstanceBlock posts.

I would like to say all this with the disclaimer that these tags always have false positives, so I encourage people to check the receipts before they block.

What are people's thoughts on this?

“Anti-trans violence isn’t going away, activists and experts warn, as they say perpetrators have become more emboldened to carry out attacks on trans and gender-diverse people across North America.”

Something that the #conservative and #authoritarian #dictators of the world truly hate about the #internet is its ability to connect us, not simply to educate people, but to expose us to each other: the world is a less nationalistic place simply because people from countries like the US, Germany, Russia, Iran, Japan... places we have been constantly told are full of people who are nothing like us, who were simply born to be the enemy.

And what do we inevitably find?

That we are all the same. We are all one human culture, one human species, sharing one planet. We all want the same things, and at the end of the day, we don't want to fight each other.

The ideologies of #fascism, #nationalism, #racism, #queerphobia, all the #bigotry and #hate, are scary, and it's terrifying that so many people are willing to support them...

But they are on the way out.

They are obsolete.

They are obviously objectively wrong.

...and people are smart: everyone is starting to realize it, even when it's subtle.

Queerphobes want to talk all day about how queer people report being sad or scared or feeling isolated all the time, but they never want to talk about the fact that the reason they give for this is almost universally that queerphobes are constantly and aggressively coming after us. What they especially don't talk about though is the fact that the parents they convince to reject their queer kids are even more miserable.

This is how #homophobia / #queerphobia / #transphobia, possibly more than other bigotries in general, do massive amounts of harm not only to the groups they are against, but to the people who are convinced to embrace them. They literally pushed away their own children, just so they could be queerphobes, throwing away what should be a cherished part of their lives.

And the anti-queer movement doesn't care. These people are just fodder for the greater cause.

Queerphobia is a parasite, of the most evolutionarily maladaptive variety: it makes them eat their own young.
