Zu den wichtigsten Risikofaktoren für deren Entstehung zählen Adipositas und Rauchen. Zu ihrer Prävention existieren neben der individuellen Verhaltensänderung effektive gesundheitspolitische Maßnahmen der Verhältnisprävention, die darauf abzielen, gesundheitsfördernde Rahmenbedingungen für die Bevölkerung zu schaffen. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist die Analyse zeitlicher Trends der Adipositas- und der Rauchprävalenz sowie deren Einordnung vor dem Hintergrund bereits ergriffener gesundheitspolitischer Maßnahmen zur Verhältnisprävention. Methode: Untersucht wurden die Adipositas- und Rauchprävalenz der letzten 20 Jahre basierend auf Daten der telefonischen Gesundheitssurveys und der Befragungsstudie Gesundheit in Deutschland aktuell des Robert Koch-Instituts. Ergebnisse: Zwischen 2003 und 2023 stieg die Adipositasprävalenz von 12,2 % auf 19,7 % über alle Alters-, Geschlechts- und Bildungsgruppen hinweg an. Die Rauchprävalenz sank von 32,1 % auf 28,8 %, vor allem bei Jüngeren und in der hohen Bildungsgruppe, stagnierte jedoch zuletzt. Schlussfolgerungen: Der kontinuierliche Anstieg der Adipositasprävalenz zwischen 2003 und 2023 zeigt, dass bisherige Maßnahmen zur Prävention der Adipositasentstehung unzureichend waren. Es ist daher zwingend notwendig, nicht nur eine Verhaltensänderung des Individuums zu adressieren, sondern auch bevölkerungsweite Maßnahmen zur Verhältnisprävention umzusetzen. Zur weiteren Reduktion des Tabakkonsums bedarf es einer konsequenteren Umsetzung gesetzlicher Maßnahmen.

"The National Institutes of Health will no longer be funding work on the health effects of climate change, according to internal records reviewed by ProPublica.

The guidance, which was distributed to several staffers last week, comes on the back of multiple new directives to cut off NIH funding to grants that are focused on subjects that are viewed as conflicting with the Trump administration’s priorities, such as gender identity, LGBTQ+ issues, vaccine hesitancy, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

While it’s unclear whether the climate guidance will impact active grants and lead to funding terminations, the directive appears to halt opportunities for future funding of studies or academic programs focused on the health effects of climate change."
