Tony Cartledge<p>It took me a while but I became pretty politically savvy recently and educated myself on how politics works. My conclusion: <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/politicsisbroken" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>politicsisbroken</span></a> Voting is compulsory here but I won't be voting for any of the parties, including the Greens. My form of <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/anarchism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>anarchism</span></a> is to <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/voteIndependent" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>voteIndependent</span></a> As long as the candidate is not a raving loony, it's the only action that sits comfortably in my conscience. I can no longer contribute to the revolving door of the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/auspol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>auspol</span></a> circus.</p>
Bobby<p>What if all political lobbying and shady think tank influence was banned? What if those lobbyists and think tankers were represented in public assemblies, alongside industry experts, scientists, sociologists, economists etc and the general public. Debate, science and fact away from personal gain. That’d help right? They’d be seen for the self serving wallies they are but still be able to try and make their case.
