The BBC are currently, as I post this, running a Radio 1 3D chat room thing that looks almost exactly like PlayStation Home on the PS3. See the @BBCRD post I just boosted.

I miss that service.

This is basically one room from what I've seen. I'm currently using a touch screen device so the controls are rubbish.

New #introduction thread (2/3)

Also - veteran #gamedev for 25 years+. Started on #N64 (lead coder on Earthworm Jim 3D - sorry) through #XBOX #PS2 (lead coder on State of Emergency for #Rockstar - sorry again).

Done a variety of things since. Co-founded a #virtualworld studio ages ago and did stuff in #PlayStationHome (remember that?) on #PlayStation 3. Also worked in #VR #AR #museum installations #indiedev

Now consultancy (I can fix your project!). #Unity #Unreal, custom engines & legacy code

@misjavanlaatum It got massively negative coverage by gaming journalists who I doubt ever went on it for 5 mins. Much like tech journalists spending 5 mins on Mastodon expecting it to immediately replicate what they experienced on Twitter.

Any social platform needs interaction and #PlayStationHome was the same. Although I remember Sony staff being happy when it closed as moderating it wasn't fun !

With the #PSVR2 launching next month, I think it is finally the proper time #Sony brings back #PlayStationHome

Take advantage of the #Metaverse hype, use the #PS5 speed and beef to make it not a slog, have that VR mode to make it a real #VRchat competitor, bolster it with all the interactive MiniGames that were in the original worlds.

Hell they could go all in and sell officially licensed virtual merch like the first time, even give a display for your #PlaystationStars collectibles
