Are you ready to push the boundaries of quantum systems? We're offering a **high-risk-high-gain PhD project** that explores revolutionary radio-frequency signal detection using free electrons and laser-cooled ions in a quantum mechanically coupled system. This project is funded for 3 years, with a 4th year secured by the department.
**Project Highlights:**
- Develop a tunable RF detector capable of detecting single photons.
- Work on planar trapping technology from scratch, including circuit board materials.
- Uncover new insights in quantum mechanics with a focus on signal information.
**Requirements:**
- Strong programming skills (C++, Python).
- Experience in automation, electronics, lasers, and CAD.
- Master’s degree in quantum optics, quantum chemistry, or plasma physics.
