Der Mississippi ist mit Gewalt über mich hereingebrochen. Nach #MarkTwain's "Die Abenteuer des Huckleberry Finn" (1884) nun auch noch sein "Leben auf dem Mississippi" (1883) gelesen. "James" (2024) von #PercivalEverett steckt da auch mittendrin.
Das alles wird wohl mit einer Liebe zu St. Louis, MO zu tun haben, auch wenn die betroffene Person bereits verstorben ist.

Die NYT hat ja in einer ihrer Buchbesprechungen gemeint, man solle am besten "Die Abenteuer des Huckleberry Finn" (1886) von #MarkTwain und "James" (2024) von #PercivalEverett im Doppelpack herausgeben. Nun, gemeinsam lesen sollte mensch sie auf alle Fälle. Denn letzteres füllt die Leerstellen des Ersteren. Was ich hiermit auch tue: zwei Bücher gegenlesen. Soweit ich bisher sagen kann, ein lohnendes Unterfangen.
After reading and enjoying Percival Everett's JAMES, I have one nagging question:
Why did he spell it "ya'll"?
I'm reading/listening to The Trees by Percival Everett.
This book is actually surprising me.
I'm catching myself saying things like, "Say what?!?!"
