We've been out looking for a table, and went to a sort of furniture warehouse, and walked past this. I don't even know what to say.

$5.75 for water and $7.25 for a 20oz soda? At a minor league #baseball game in Louisville, KY? That's as bad as Fenway. Pure extortion. #EndBillionaires #PeakCapitalism #LouisvilleBats

There are multiple for-profit services whose value proposition is reminding you of subscriptions you forgot you were paying for.

Look #Amazon, the company with over half a trillion of annual revenue, is super generous!
"We voluntarily pay you 6% more than the absolute legal minimum that isn't even enough to survive!"
"Today, German Chancellor #OlafScholz is expected to (...) announce a €9.9 billion #subsidy for the #microprocessor company, so that it sets up a plant in the German town of #Magdeburg."
"To put it bluntly, every German household will contribute €240 to do something that’s traditionally a core task of private enterprise — investing in new factories to meet demand."

I’m tired of subscriptions.
I’m especially tired of what absolutely used to be the sort of thing you’d pay a flat, one time fee for that are now subscriptions.
It is peak capitalism for everything to switch to annual, monthly, and in some wild cases, weekly fees just for the opportunity to use something. Because that’s the other big thing, the full subscription remains in effect even if you don’t use it once!
A long time ago in a galaxy far away, subscriptions were actually LESS expensive. It was a trade off businesses would make for your loyalty: a lower per unit fee. Now, most subscriptions are more than the flat fees would’ve totaled and with no value added. And the most absurd things are getting away with subscription pricing. I don’t understand how anyone can delude themselves into thinking profit and value have any relationship at all anymore.
So, when the next AI app of the month wants $79 for 6 months just so you can inevitably generate a mere 4 mediocre and uninspired images of people with 11 fingers on each hand, pass on that shit. We’ll all be better off when we signal to the market that we’re done renting everything. Maybe then we can get rid of these value-extracting charlatans and go back to paying a fair price, once.

I have spent more time on LinkedIn in the past week than I ever have before that, cumulatively, I'm pretty sure.
Still raging-hot mad at Larry, Sergey, Sundar, and the rest of the #Alphabet exec team. Looking forward to Q4 earnings dropping next week so I can go from 99% to 100% sure that there was absolutely no "need" for it other than greed.
I've seen phrases such as #PeakCapitalism, #LateStageCapitalism and #EndStageCapitalism bandied about, and while these are all right as far as they go, they don't fully express what nakedly capitalistic behaviors are doing to the common person.
I thus humbly submit the phrase #DeathRattleCapitalism, where multinational corporations and their C-suite "lords of the earth" ride profits out into the wasteland of oblivion for everyone else.
Truth. “Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk do a ton of objectively bad stuff, but I just want to be clear that the mere act of holding onto that much money in a world with this much inequality is in itself a brutally evil action, and alone makes them bad.” -planet of finks on twitter #capitalism #capitalismsucks #peakcapitalism
