Milcom Miasma<p>I'm in need of some restraint.</p><p>I'm doing some administrative consolidation (as one does when they get a bit older), and I closed my fidelity account.</p><p>After moving funds to a different account, Fidelity printed and sent me a check for $0.24. I don't know why they did this, but they did.</p><p>Other men might be embarrassed to cash this check at the bank. I plan to ask for my proceeds in specific denominations of coins.</p><p>It's mad money and I'm treating it as such.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/OldPeopleOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OldPeopleOfMastodon</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/HighFinance" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HighFinance</span></a></p>

bananabob :tinoflag:<p>6.00AM - Woke up in a fit of panic a smoke alarm blaring out at . Rushed around the house bare skinned, in the dark, trying to find which alarm of the six installed it was. There was no fire, there was no smoke. Then couldn't get back to sleep for ages with all that adrenaline coursing through my body.</p><p>Why do these alarms always cause an issue at night. They never seem to go off for no reason during the day?</p><p>Certainly not good for an aging boomer like me.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/SmokeAlarm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SmokeAlarm</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/OldPeopleOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OldPeopleOfMastodon</span></a></p>
Milcom Miasma<p>We had brunch at a Western Art museum today.</p><p>There is a series of portraits of Native Americans and one of the men who was a model for one of the paintings was named "Bad Marriage." His wife was also a model for one of the paintings and her name was "Wife of Bad Marriage."</p><p>I guess some concepts transcend culture.</p><p>I just wish the three women I was with didn't stare at me every time they read the title of the painting.</p><p>Source: <a href="https://thebrintonmuseum.org/collection/western-art/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">thebrintonmuseum.org/collectio</span><span class="invisible">n/western-art/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Art" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Art</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/Museums" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Museums</span></a> <br><a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/OldPeopleOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OldPeopleOfMastodon</span></a></p>

BunRab Voted for Harris<p>A couple of lucky things about being old right now:<br />1. I have gotten a flu shot every year from 1976, so if there&#39;s no new flu shot next year, I nonetheless have some lingering antibodies against pretty much every flu variant.<br />2. I am old enough to have received a smallpox vaccination, and according to an infectious diseases specialist I talked to, that gives me protection against mpox, so I don&#39;t need to get an mpox vaccine.<br /><a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/OldPeopleOfMastodon" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>OldPeopleOfMastodon</span></a></p>
