My understanding is that it basically uses millions of gallons of water and burns 1000s of cubic ft of fossil fuel to get a comparably tiny amount of oil and leaves toxic sludge and contaminated water behind. This only works commercially because the <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/OilAndGasIndustry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OilAndGasIndustry</span></a> can use the environment as free dumpster for their poisonous waste and dirt cheap gas prices.<br>The book as shows what disastrous consequences <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/ClimateBreakDown" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ClimateBreakDown</span></a> has that is fuelled by <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/oilsands" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>oilsands</span></a> and the continued use of <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/FossilFuels" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FossilFuels</span></a>.</p>
