@gedankenstuecke I don't know a way to copy text from the camera stream without Google Lense. For copying text from a photo, you can use the Google Photos app. It doesn't seem to send the text to Google's servers, but if you want to make sure, install NetGuard to block internet access for the app.

To create PDF documents with OCR, I use OSS Document Scanner

Question to the #KDE #Plasma developers out there: Did anyone ever think about building #OCR into the file indexer? I would love to be able to find screenshots based on the text they contain 😅

@boero That is a tricky part indeed. BTW, it is good if you implement it differently, even seemingly as a duplication of others, because the tiny differences will catch problems. I am not aware of other established #OCR tools.
