Andrew Cuomo said Saturday he’ll pack his bags and flee to Florida if he loses the NYC mayoral race to socialist Zohran Mamdani.</blockquote>Mr. Cuomo is attempting to make a <a href="https://thenewleafjournal.com/the-inspiring-political-comebacks-of-byron-brown-and-vito-fossella/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">political comeback</a> from some <a href="https://thenewleafjournal.com/eyewitness-to-history-the-resignations-of-cuomo-and-spitzer/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">past unpleasantness</a> as an independent candidate for mayor. He is running as an independent because he lost the Democrat primary to a 33-year old who has never had a real job (among other problems but let us stay focused on the main topic here). While Mr. Cuomo appears to be in second place in polling in a four-way race and the Democrat nominee, Mr. Zohran Mamdani, is polling terribly for a Democrat nominee in <a href="https://social.emucafe.org/naferrell/nyt-asks-if-nyc-should-go-to-open-primaries/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">what is effectively a one-party City</a>, Mr. Cuomo has the problem of having already proven to be less popular with Democrats than Mr. Mamdani and being absolutely toxic to the 30% of voters who generally vote Republican. He needs some Republicans and right-leaning independents.
