I just rediscovered an artist that’s been lost to me for years
When I was taking a South and Southeast Asian Cultures class in university I was introduced to a lot of remarkable performances. One of which was of the legendary Pakistani singer and songwriter Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan (1948-1997). When we put this man’s expressive qawwali performances up on the projector we were floored. It’s almost otherworldly how passionate he is about what he sings about.

The first 5 songs are very mediocre but on the last 6 Nusrat starts to get on fire. And when Nusrat finds his inner flame that's where you start to transcend with him to a higher plane.
