Hey, covid-cautious people! What are your thoughts on which countries are CURRENTLY the best for people like us? I'm not interested in which countries did the best in 2020 and 2021. I want to know which are the best NOW. Of particular interest are the availability of vaccines, especially Novavax, and the acceptability of wearing N95 masks in public. I'm especially interested in countries where English or Spanish are spoken.
EDITED TO ADD:
Many thanks to everyone who responded! Here's a summary of the responses:
New Zealand: "vaccines free for over-30s every six months. Tests and masks no longer free. No national ventilation standards or mandatory masking even in care settings. Wearing one in public considered slightly unusual, possible asshole interactions (probably less so in Auckland)"
Japan: Probably good.
United Kingdom: Mostly negative reviews, but one person had this relatively positive comment on vaccine availability: "Vaccines are available, but only privately and from an extremely small number of pharmacies. You may get lucky if your employer offers one, but you'll only get one at Christmas and they'll probably expect you to go to the office to get it."
Australia: Not good.
United States of America, liberal region: "Novovax is available. Vaccines are covered or not depending on your insurance. If you are poor and have state insurance, it covers the vaccines, paxlovid, and eight rapid tests per month. Masc blocs give out free n95s. If you have to pay for shots out of pocket, they are about $200". (Something not discussed in the replies is whether RFK Jr.'s influence on Trump's administration may result in the US limiting vaccine access in the future, which concerns some Americans.)
Acceptability of wearing N95 masks: Interestingly, there were no significant differences noted between countries. I had expected much more difference.
Thank you to everyone who shared information on your countries!
