Kris Hardy<p>I'm about halfway through reading <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/Cryptonomicon" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cryptonomicon</span></a>, and I'm amazed at the predictions that <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/NealStephenson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NealStephenson</span></a> had about cryptocurrencies, NFTs, and the organized crime involvement. (They haven't fully materialized yet in the book, but it's definitely pointing in that direction.) Its also made me do some historical reading u-boats and WW2 gold that I always thought were just conspiracy theories. <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/books" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>books</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/reading" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>reading</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.nz/tags/history" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>history</span></a></p>

Michael Kazarnowicz<p>I also started reading "Anathem" by Neal Stephenson, having really enjoyed both “Snow Crash" and “Seveneves”. </p><p>The story starts first about 20% into the book, and the world building is heavy in the first fifth. molosovsky 🐿✊💗<p>Der neuste <a href="https://literatur.social/tags/NealStephenson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NealStephenson</span></a>-Roman taugt mir wieder, nachdem »Termination Shock« und »Fall, Dodge in Hell« für mich seine bisher schwächsten Titel sind. »Polostan« ist Teil 1 des ›Bomb Light‹-Zweiteilers und erzählt die Geschichte Dawn ›Aurora‹ Rae Bjornberg, Tochter von Anarcho-Cowboys die abwechselnd in USA und Petrograd aufwächst und dann in Great Depression Waffen schmuggelt. Bin ca 1/3 weit drinn. Bisher ist nix passiert und es ist dennoch auf ›typische Stephenson-Art‹ hübsch kurzweilig.</p>
