Hotspur🏳️‍🌈🇺🇦<p>Musical Interlude: Late in her career, Nanci Griffith did an album backed by a symphony orchestra. I wasn't wild about it; it was mostly covers of earlier material, and some of the arrangements didn't appeal to me. One track leaped out at me; a new one for her, a cover of a tune by Frank Christian, and with his unique folk/jazz fusion going on. I rather liked it.</p><p>"Drops from the Faucet," performed by Nanci Griffith.</p><p><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlDYeUjb9PI" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=RlDYeUjb9P</span><span class="invisible">I</span></a></p><p><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/MusicalInterlude" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MusicalInterlude</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/NanciGriffith" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NanciGriffith</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/FrankChristian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FrankChristian</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/FolkJazz" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FolkJazz</span></a></p>

Musical Interlude: How about a Friday singalong? Here's a folk classic that just stands up and insists you join in. Especially as a bunch of old-school folkers are joining in on this recording.

"He Was a Friend of Mine," performed by Nanci Griffith, with Dave van Ronk, Julie Gold, Lucy Kaplansky, Eric Taylor, Frank Christian, Odetta, Rosalie Sorrels, and others.

Musical Interlude: Nanci Griffith is a great favorite of my sister and I, and we introduced her to our parents. This particular song is a family favorite; even my dad, who professed to think she was merely OK, was caught humming this from time to time. Mom says that if she ever hears this on the radio, even the Bette Midler cover, she stops what she's doing, even pulls over to the side of the road, to listen and reminisce.

"From a Distance," performed live by Nanci Griffith, on the David Letterman show.
