Mark H<p>We could hit the little Thumbs Down button a few times and train our TiVo not to do it but there&#39;s a stupid joy in checking it and finding that it has once again decided to record an episode of Naked Attraction despite us instantly deleting the show every single time. Continued thread

Watched another old episode of #NakedAttraction.

This time the chooser was a bisexual trans man (pre-transition), so the candidates were men, women and #nonbinary people who are into trans men.

Again the atmosphere was so much nicer than I have ever experienced with any group of heterosexual candidates. Everyone was so relaxed, respectful and supportive. No misgendering or incorrect pronouns, of course (should be politeness 101, but it's hard to find outside that demographic, so it felt special). And I was attracted to more people compared to a heterosexual panel.

The chooser picked a non-binary person to go on a date. The date seemed to go well (though it's nigh impossible to have a nice date with cameras rolling). But there wasn't much of a spark between the two, so they decided to stay in touch as friends.

Watching reruns of #NakedAttraction, a British dating show in which a (clothed) chooser decides which of the (naked) candidates they want to go on a date with.

Usually heterosexual people are choosing other heterosexual people (of the 'opposite' sex/gender). It is interesting to watch, but you get the full load of heterosexual strangeness that I never fully understood.

There are just a few episodes in which queer people are choosing other queer people. The most recent one I watched involved a non-binary person finding a non-binary date.

I have to say that this episode was so soothing and beautiful to watch. It felt as if the heterosexual aliens that were running the place before had finally been replaced by normal respectful humans who were not knee-deep in inscrutable clichés and weird role expectations.

(There was an episode with a gay guy as the chooser that did not give me this soothing feeling. Maybe it is because I am not gay, but (leaning towards) non-binary myself.)

The wife and I were looking for something new to watch last night, and stumbled upon a British show called "Naked Attraction."

I won't spoil the premise, but suffice it to say it's sorta like a cross between Ed Sullivan, Masterpiece Theatre, and Your Show of Shows.

If you subscribe to the Max streaming service, I'd highly recommend gathering the kids, inviting over the in-laws, popping a pot roast into the oven, and enjoying this throwback to the golden age of television.
