Die Schreie hungriger Kinder hallen durch die Zeltlager in <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Gaza" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Gaza</span></a>-Stadt, wo allein in den letzten fünf Tagen über 50 <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Pal%C3%A4stinenser" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Palästinenser</span></a> verhungert sind.
</p><p>Wie alle Eltern hofften auch der 34-jährige Ahmed Draimli und seine Frau Waid, dass ihr erstgeborener Sohn Zain gesund, stark und voller Lebensfreude aufwachsen würde. Doch im vergangenen September, kurz nach seiner Geburt im Al-<a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Sahaba" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Sahaba</span></a> Medical Complex in Gaza-Stadt, stellten Ärzte fest, dass Zain eine bakterielle Infektion im Blut hatte. Sie sagten, dass dies wahrscheinlich auf ein geschwächtes Immunsystem zurückzuführen sei – eine Folge der <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Unterern%C3%A4hrung" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Unterernährung</span></a> während Waids <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Schwangerschaft" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Schwangerschaft</span></a>. „Während der Schwangerschaft habe ich mein Bestes getan, um alles zu kaufen, was ich konnte: Eier, Kartoffeln, alles, was gesund ist. </p><p>Waid litt auch unter der langen Einwirkung von Holzrauch, der zum Kochen verwendet wurde, und dem allgegenwärtigen Staub und Schutt von den israelischen <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Bombardements" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bombardements</span></a> in der Nähe, da sie in ihrem Haus im Stadtteil Al-<a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Daraj" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Daraj</span></a> im Osten von Gaza-Stadt Zuflucht gesucht hatten. „Sie haben unser Viertel dreimal angegriffen“, erklärte Draimli.
</p><p>In den ersten Monaten seines Lebens war Zains Gesundheitszustand sehr labil. Waid hatte aufgrund ihrer eigenen schlechten <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Ern%C3%A4hrung" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ernährung</span></a> Probleme mit dem Stillen, und <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/S%C3%A4uglingsnahrung" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Säuglingsnahrung</span></a> war knapp. Der Säugling weinte ununterbrochen: Er hatte Schmerzen und oft hohes Fieber. Draimli erinnert sich, dass er kurz nach seiner Geburt „17 Tage lang im <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Krankenhaus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Krankenhaus</span></a> der [Patient Friend’s Benevolent Society] blieb und über eine Infusion ernährt wurde. Die Ärzte entließen ihn schließlich, aber sein Fieber kam immer wieder zurück.“
</p><p>Sie brachten ihn immer wieder ins Krankenhaus im Zentrum von Gaza-Stadt. Manchmal sagten die Ärzte, sein Zustand sei stabil und er brauche nur die richtige <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Ern%C3%A4hrung" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ernährung</span></a>. Ein anderes Mal vermuteten sie eine ernstere Erkrankung, konnten dies aber ohne MRT-Untersuchung nicht bestätigen – und das einzige Gerät war bei einem israelischen Luftangriff zerstört worden. Schließlich entschieden die Ärzte, dass Zain dringend ins Ausland überwiesen werden müsse, was angesichts der geschlossenen Grenzen unmöglich war.
</p><p>Ende März verschlechterte sich Zains Zustand. Am 17. Juli begannen seine Organe zu versagen. Waid brachte ihn ins Krankenhaus, wo die Ärzte ihn an ein <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Beatmungsger%C3%A4t" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Beatmungsgerät</span></a> anschlossen.
</p><p>„Wir dachten, es wäre wie all die anderen Male“, erklärte Draimli.
</p><p>„Aber nur wenige Minuten später starb er. Waid rief mich an, und ich brach zusammen. Als ich im <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Krankenhaus" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Krankenhaus</span></a> ankam, lag sie immer noch auf dem Boden und umklammerte seinen Körper.“
</p><p>Seit Beginn des Krieges Israels im Oktober 2023 sind laut Angaben des <a href="https://t.me/mediagovps/3766" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Gesundheitsministeriums von Gaza</a> mindestens 122 Menschen, darunter mehr als <a href="https://www.un.org/unispal/document/ohchr-palestinians-in-gaza-continue-to-be-killed-by-starvation-or-by-bullets-from-the-israeli-military-while-trying-to-access-food/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">83 Kinder</a>, in Gaza an <a href="https://mastodon.trueten.de/tags/Hunger" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Hunger</span></a> gestorben – 54 davon allein seit Montag.
