I took this photo in July 2021 at Itasca State Park in Minnesota, at the headwaters of the Mississippi. It's a very lively place in terms of nature and people going to visit it. I highly recommended anyone who lives on or near the river to make a trip to the verITAS CAput, the true head.

A monochrome photo of a fern (ostrich fern?) with a shallow depth of field, showing one frond in focus and the rest blurred in a way that led to interesting wispy forms. It was almost monochrome green to start with, but I left it with a subtle pure green tinted monochrome. Shot with xf80mmf2.8 at f4, 1/500s, ISO 160.

#MountainMonday is here and so is a timely image - the Border Peaks.

Split down the middle of the saddle is the line that forms the #US and #Canadian borders known as the 49th Parallel - the largest unprotected border in the world. With some tension increasing, I hope that everyone continues to remember the things that bring us all together, and not those that divide.

The Canadian and American border peaks at the 49th Parallel between British Columbia and Washington. The monochrome image shows the steep jagged faces of these mountains highlighted by annual snow deposits that remain throughout the summer. The American peak is on the left, and the Canadian on the right. The sky appears darkened as haze from the nearby ocean provides haze that obscured the lower altitude sky.
