He can't simply back out of Ukraine and say "oops, sorry, my bad" after a year of telling his citizens the <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/UkraineInvasion" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UkraineInvasion</span></a> was justified.</p><p>Also, <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Russia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Russia</span></a>'s pal <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/China" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>China</span></a> has been making unusual overtures lately to both sides for a resolution.</p><p>Perhaps by moving against Moldova, Putin hopes for an easy win, and to distract his people from his failure.</p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/Transnistria" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Transnistria</span></a> is a strip of Russian-backed separatist territory between Moldova and Ukraine.
