Whilst his distinctive sound, now familiar to us all, would not emerge until 1980 with his 'Dirty Mind' album, Prince, who played all (27) instruments on this album (as generally would do anyway) at the age of 19, still demonstrated a unique flair that set him apart from his peers. 'For You' stands as a commendable album, predating all the fame and the iconic purple aesthetic, featuring a few hidden gems like "So Blue" and "Just As Long As We're Together", though understandably overshadowed by his later, iconic works. It marked the start of the extraordinary musical journey of this exceptional prodigy musician, and the rest, as they say, is history.
