RasterInterrupt
Got myself this gorgeous #mechanicalkeyboard last week. It's an #Evo80 with linear switches. Typing almost sounds like raindrops. I love it!!

I've been typing for over 40 years on all kinds of keyboards now, but I never actually learned to type properly. I only ever use three fingers on each hand. I'm fast, but not really fast. And I make lots of mistakes as soon as I don't look at the keyboard.

For the past few days, I've started practicing proper touch typing for about 10 minutes daily. Currently, I am only practicing the home row. It's odd, but if I practice for too long, my mind gets overwhelmed, leading me to freeze up and mix up all the keys.

I wonder if it's even possible to break a deeply ingrained long-standing bad habit that has been hard-wired for so many years?

#learning

Anton
My split keyboard I built died for the second time due to electrostatic discharge (ESD), needing a new micro controller once again.

It has taken me some time to get accustomed to using a split keyboard, but for the last month or so I have been able to use it full time without too much issues. So I am quite sad now when it is rendered useless, just when I really made it work out well for me...

Anyone know any preventive measures that could be taken when building the keyboard to reduce the risk of an ESD? I know there are some keyboards being built with ESD protection, like splitkb's Halcyon series and some beekeeb keyboards, but they are all prebuilt, it seems. Do we just have to accept that our keyboards will die at random if we build them ourselves?

#mechkeyboard #mechanicalkeyboard #splitkeyboard

Brad Linder
The Campus is a DIY laptop with a mechanical keyboard and a custom case. On the inside it features a Framework Laptop mainboard, which saves some of the work.
