Lots more #EV chargers are appearing (not just Tesla) but alas, it seems Welcome Break have abandoned #recycling bins as I'm sure they had these last time I was here..
I had a look at the area myself and TBH this seems like a load of middle class #NIMBY s - the #M25 #motorway service station in #Essex would take up a relatively small area of "green belt" space (compared to how much actually exists), and is genuinely useful for those driving long distances especially for those who have another few hours journey left along the # A12 / #A14

"A 77-year-old #environmental campaigner has been returned to jail after problems with an electronic tag to monitor her.
"#GaieDelap, a retired teacher from Montpelier in Bristol, was sentenced to 20 months in jail for participating in a Just Stop Oil protest that blocked the #M25 in November 2022.
"She was released on 18 November on a home detention curfew, but a tag could not be fitted to her leg because of deep vein #thrombosis, and it was too large for her wrist.
"The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) said if offenders could not be monitored in the community electronically, they would be returned to prison even if it was no fault of their own.
"'We know this is cruel, and totally unnecessary. We know there are alternatives to the tag,' her supporters said in a statement.
"'Gaie is absolutely no threat to the community.
"'This recall to prison is a ridiculous waste of resources and money, and will cost the taxpayer £12,000 to keep Gaie in prison.
"'We cannot believe that there is not an electronic monitoring device that can be fitted at a fraction of the cost. We want common sense to prevail.'
"Ms Delap was arrested at 18:30 GMT on Friday and was taken to Eastwood Park Prison in Gloucestershire.
'Extra punishment'
"Her case has been raised by the Bristol Central MP Carla Denyer, who wrote to the prisons minister Lord Timpson and the probation service.
"'Why is she facing this extra punishment of being locked up, for longer than she was meant to be, and over Christmas?
"'It's not because she's broken her bail conditions, it's because the private company responsible for fitting electronic tags couldn't find one the right size for her, and the authorities weren't willing to consider alternatives like daily check-ins at the police station,' she wrote on X.
"The MoJ said under the home scheme, offenders must be under an electronically monitored curfew for at least nine hours a day.
"'Where it is no longer possible to electronically monitor offenders in the community, through no fault of their own, they will be recalled until it is possible for them to monitored in the community,' the MoJ said."

"But this isn’t some mysterious crisis. We know #FossilFuel companies are responsible for the emissions heating the globe. But instead of fixing it, these corporations have lied to the public, bribed politicians and sowed distrust in science. Meanwhile, governments are giving more money than ever to fossil fuel companies via subsidies, with a record $7 trillion cashed out to #BigOil in 2022.
"Some climate activist groups would like to bring your attention to this issue. But they are often arrested and get the book thrown at them when they demonstrate. Climate activist Roger Hallam knows this all too well, as he serves a five-year prison sentence for #BlockingTraffic — and, as he explained to Salon, his plight is a warning to Americans who vote for politicians that deny climate science.
"Hallam, who described himself as a #PoliticalPrisoner, was incarcerated for his role in leading and participating in an anti-climate change demonstration in November 2022. For four days, Hallam and more than three dozen other activists climbed a gantry and thereby blocked traffic in London’s critically important #M25 motorway."

Die Anklage lautete auf Verschwörung zur vorsätzlichen Verursachung einer öffentlichen Belästigung, gemäß dem "Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022" und dem "Criminal Law Act 1977". #Rechtsprechung
Nach der Urteilsverkündung riefen die Verurteilten: "Wir lieben euch!" Der Richter sagte: "Jeder von Ihnen hat die Linie von besorgtem Aktivisten zu Fanatiker überschritten." Er beschrieb Hallam als den "Theoretiker" der Verschwörung. #Urteil
Just Stop Oil verteidigt die Aktionen der Aktivisti als notwendig angesichts der Untätigkeit der Regierung im Kampf gegen den Klimawandel. #Klimakrise
Michel Forst, der UN-Sonderberichterstatter für Umweltschützer:innen, nannte den Tag der Verurteilung einen "dunklen Tag für friedlichen Umweltprotest" in Großbritannien. Amy Cameron von Greenpeace UK kritisierte die Strafen als Angriff auf das #Demonstrationsrecht.

Blocking the #M25 or any #motorway should be considered #terrorism especially if it prohibits emergency services from responding to a call or someone from seeking emergency healthcare. I'm fucking sick and tired of "#activists" thinking it's okay to block roadways and traffic. You want to #protest? Stand on a fucking corner with your signs! Or have a "sit in" in somebody's office. Stop throwing paint and shit on artwork, stop super-gluing your hands to the pavement, and stop blocking people from going to or coming from home or work.

The #M25 motorway in #London and #SE England is often blocked for hours due to the aftermath of peoples bad and dangerous #driving (exacerbated by the demands of capitalism rather than even just selfishness such as DUI and speeding) - and even the offenders (if they survive) get less jail time than for the recent protests..
