Space activities:

Roscosmos issued a statement on their Telegram channel regarding the mishap involving Luna-25 impacting the moon.

Basically it was wrongly programmed, and the burn to move it from a circular Lunar orbit to a pre-landing elliptical orbit lasted 43 seconds longer than intended. As a result, the moon was propelled into an undesired trajectory causing the collision with the spacecraft, against the orders of the Kremlin.... or something like that.

#NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) has located the site where Russian's spacecraft Luna 25 crashed on the #Moon on 19 August 2023.

Images 'before' and 'after' show a formation of a new #crater roughly 400 km away from Luna 25's intended landing site.

The new crater is very small, about 10m in diameter.
