My husband didn’t grow up Jewish or Israeli.
But being married for several years now…
watching the work I do,
the hate I get,
the messages he now helps me block—
it’s changed him.

What shocks him most
is how normal it is for me.

Because when you love someone—
and you watch them be hated,
every single day,
just for existing—
it hits differently.

We’ve come so far as a society
to protect so many groups.
But not the Jews.

Since the beginning of time.
And still — in 2025.

As we say in Hebrew:
אותה גברת בשינוי אדרת
“Same lady, different coat.”
Same hate.
New excuse.

I’m not afraid.
I never will be.

The hate reflects only
on those who waste their lives
spreading darkness.

But like fire,
hate spreads.
And that’s why it matters.

Not because of what I go through.
But because of what it fuels.

That’s why we must speak.
We must name it.
Call it out.
Refuse to normalize it.

That’s real freedom.
Not slogans.
Not made-up liberation.
But truth.

My husband didn’t grow up Jewish or Israeli.
But after years together—seeing my work, the hate, the messages he now helps block—it’s changed him.

What shocks him most?
How normal it is to me. How I’ve gotten used to it.
And how heartbreaking that is.

When you love someone and watch them be hated daily just for existing—it hits different.

We’ve made progress protecting many. But not the Jews.

Still hated—any reason will do.
It’s been that way forever. Still is in 2025.

I’m not afraid. Never will be.
The hate says more about them than us.

But hate spreads. That’s why we speak.
Name it. Refuse to normalize it.

Nanaimo's Vancouver Island University women's basketball team won the provincial gold medal over their (transphobic) arch rivals Columbia Bible College (out of Abbotsford/Mission)

The tournament was supposed to be held at CBC but was taken away after the CBC coach and players transphobic threats/nonsense.

VIU has beat CBC all three times they played this year.

The VIU Men earned Silver.

Sometimes, the reality of social media can be harsh. When my posts go viral or a topic gains traction, the spike in engagement often comes with an uptick in hateful or antisemitic comments.

But here’s the twist: their hate boosts my content. The very engagement they try to use against me pushes my posts further into the algorithm, reaching an even larger audience. Since many of my accounts are monetized, their negativity actually helps grow my business. In their attempt to spread hate, they amplify my work. I win.

Thanks to filters and the magic of the block button, much of this negativity never sees the light of day on my pages. Instead, I focus on creating a safe and inviting space for anyone, from any culture, who wants to learn Hebrew.

So to all the haters: thank you for unknowingly helping me spread love, language, and connection. Hate has no place here, but turning it into positivity? That’s the beauty of this journey.
