"She dedicated the new and improved dog library to Deb Mortoglou, who along with Mars, turned an unsightly patch of dirt and dead grass on the property of their apartment building into a thriving community garden filled with plants donated from the entire neighborhood. Mortoglou passed away a few months ago, but her love for dogs and gardening lives on."

Internet in a box can be the starting point for so many smaller projects. You don’t have to run all of it for every project.
I use it as the foundation for my little free e-library,

github.com/michaelbelcher/Litt

But it can also be used as a stand alone NextCloud instance, offline Wikipedia/ #kiwix server or open source maps interface.

Several months ago someone sawed off this Little Free Library, on the grounds of Maria Sanford Middle School in Minneapolis.

It's back, repaired and repainted, with a nice new logo on the side.

Wikipedia: Maria Louise Sanford (December 19, 1836 – April 21, 1920) was an American educator. She was a professor of history at Swarthmore College from 1871 to 1880 and a professor of rhetoric and elocution at the University of Minnesota from 1880 to 1909. …

Sanford was also a leader in the conservation and beautification program of her new state, including work with clubwoman Florence Elfelt Bramhall towards creating a forest preserve which became part of the Chippewa National Forest. U.S. Forest Service chief Gifford Pinchot later stated that "without the farsighted and patriotic support of the Minnesota Federation of Women's Clubs, it would have been impossible" to provide this wilderness conservation in Minnesota. …

Her death was headlined in Minneapolis Tribune and other newspapers. Sanford was called "the best loved woman of the North Star State."

I stumbled upon a handful of little free libraries or "ruilbibs" (swap libraries) in just 9 days in between the Anarchist Bookfair and a Lavender Witch mini-tour. Here are most of them (another one I saw from my band mate's car while we drove through a french village and I wasn't fast enough to take a picture). See my blogpost "a week in the life of a zinester": https://echopublishing.wordpress.com/2025/05/30/a-week-in-the-life-of-a-zinester-bookfair-little-free-libraries-lavender-witch-mini-tour/

It'll be a nice day for walking the dog after a little light rain overnight.

45℉ in Minneapolis; light NE winds; mostly cloudy skies; visibility ten miles at the airport.

And tomorrow's Friday.

This country's radical #ChristianNationalists and #evangelicals' misplaced self-righteousness is oozing into secular society, crossing over from church to state.
Their faith lies in their private places of worship, nowhere else. Their demands have no business dictating private citizens' #LittleFreeLibraries or anything else.
