On the topic of iLok, the only thing that I miss, and I am looking for alternatives, is the Antares Autotune stuff. They use iLok, anything that does not need iLok and is comparable in features? I am OK to use yabiridge to make it work on Linux. Any chance that @amadeus would have any tips?

Someday there will be a plug-in that emulates the tiresome workflow of matching an old version of ProTools to an old version of macOS such that it doesn't crash on you because that had such a SOUND to it, you know? Lmao

Have you used, or do you have any experience of, the DAW Ardour? Is it any good? Would be of use for working with audio? Problems or faults? Any advice would be welcomed.

It's with a bit of emotion that I share this first classical orchestration work with you.

The challenge was to write a cinematic piece that could be performed by a small five-part orchestra.

In the late 1900s I mucked about in UNIXes when I was on the helpdesk for a university. I made shell scripts and understood jokes about vi vs. emacs. I haven't really touched Linux this century, and I am well aware things have moved on a lot.

You have downloaded with yt-dlp a music lesson video.

But you would like to change its pitch.

With #linux command line tools:

1. Extract the audio from a webm file:

ffmpeg -i snuff_c_sharp.webm snuff_c_sharp.wav

2. Transpose (--pitch 3 means "raise pitch by 3 semitones"):

rubberband --pitch 3 snuff_c_sharp.wav snuff_e.wav

3. Put the transposed audio back into the video file:

ffmpeg -i snuff_c_sharp.webm -i snuff_e.wav -c:v copy -map 0:v:0 -map 1:a:0 snuff_e.mp4
