Spent some time in #CulverCity yesterday, onetime home of the Hal Roach Studio. A lot of buildings that appear in the backgrounds of #HalRoach Productions, like #LaurelAndHardy films, are still standing, and have had a lot of other screen appearances over the intervening decades. Below is the Culver Hotel. Film location blogger John Bengtson describes its appearance in L&H films 70's and 80's TV shows here: silentlocations.com/2018/04/01
I get the feeling that Culver City went downhill a bit after the classic movie era, but it's looking pretty spiffy now.

The #LaurelAndHardy feature Our Relations, which we will be showing in our talkie matinée tomorrow, was directed by Harry Lachman. Previously he did set design for Mare Nostrum, (1926) and directed Dante's Inferno (1935).
These are great films but you might be wondering how they led to directing a Laurel and Hardy movie--well, he was just a huge fan of the boys and talked his way into the job!
It gave this movie a bit different look than most of their comedies, but it works.
Come see for yourself at our Edison Theater, in Niles, Fremont, CA, Sunday 2/9 at 3pm!
