It was a good movie week for me this week!
A couple rewatches this week. The highlight was Sinners, though. Loved it. I enjoyed Gretel And Hansel a lot too, though the end felt a bit... off? I dunno. Might watch it again sometime to see if it's just a me thing.

Miami Vice – Mumblecore with explosions. Gave up halfway through.
Pavements – Clever-clever doc cum fictionalised account of the band cum weird musical or something. It doesn’t really work, but if you’re a big fan it’s enjoyable, I suppose. Anyway, I’ve had Here stuck in my head all week, so there's that.
Cloclo – A rewatch of this fantastic biopic of French ’60s chanteur Claude François, starring a never better Jéremie Renier as the control-freak singer, who co-wrote the original version of My Way. It's terrifically camp, and really well made. And the sparkly suits!
Monsieur Aznavour – Can you see a theme developing? (I should have rewatched Dalida, and Gainsbourg, Vie Héroique too). Enjoyable Aznavour biopic, a not too dissimilar story to that of François, with a peculiarly cast Tahar Rahim as the title character. I learned some things I didn’t know. Anyway, if you haven’t heard his track Désormais get onto it right now.
THE SNOW WOMAN - 
- Version of the 'I married a ghost' story more famously told in Kwaidan
A DREAM LONGER THAN THE NIGHT - 
- Surreal, artsy riff on the Alice in Wonderland template with an adult dreamer and lots of exploding phalluses
NIGHTBREED - 
- Even in the longer, director's cut version I'm not sure this is entirely coherent. But I like latex monsters and I like David Cronenberg acting as if he's in a different film from everybody else
THE PIED PIPER - 
- An unpaid pest control expert takes disproportionate action against his debtors... Creepy stop-motion animated folktales for the win
