Black Hills Spruce (Picea glauca var. densata). I'm always amazed by plants that can thrive far away from their native range.

This tree is a geographical variety of the White Spruce. I've planted both White and Black Hills, and the latter definitely is a smaller, more compact tree.

A branchlet of a spruce tree. The needles are light green and short. At the end of the branchlet hangs one small spruce cone (1.75 inches / 4.5 cm). These cones are a lot smaller than those of the more commonly planted Colorado Blue Spruce.

Garden project from a couple of years ago, which is getting a bit of a revamp. I had a few bits of large, squarish stone knocking about - and no clients' gardens to immediately use them in - so dropped a sunken seating area into my own garden.

The obvious firepit is an old lorry wheel that got washed up on the beach, and rolled/dragged half a mile back to the car. We have so many firepit devices, though, that I turned it into a planter for orange/red coloured flowers (none of the photos of which survived a PC failure).

The chickens have largely turned it into a fort, so I'm planning a surprise diversion (mainly sweetcorn at the other end of the garden) to reclaim it. This may be an ongoing battle of wills.

Binge watching lawn care videos and hyping myself up for a spring full of yard work. *GRUNT* gonna buy my first CUBIC YARD of soil and some hand tools! *GRUNT*

Should also schedule a few deep tissue massages for my back... or maybe just a trip to the mall to use one of those fancy massage chairs.
